Located at an elevation of 6,743 feet above sea level, it has an average width around one half mile across and often reaches 2.5 miles wide! With no other tributaries or artificial replenishment sources to speak of, Big Bear Lake remains as pure as nature intended.
The lake is extremely popular for its beauty and the many recreational activities that it offers. Whether you’re an avid fisherman or want to spend some time sailing around the lake, Big Bear Lake has something for everyone. Popular fish species found in the area include trout, bass, catfish and crappie. The scenic views of the lake are perfect for kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding.
